A VACANCY EXISTS FOR A CHURCH CLEANER AT ALL SAINTS CHURCH WHITSTABLE
4 Hours a week £12.60 per hour plus employee benefits such as paid annual leave where applicable
Work day - Mondays day time or evening to suit successful applicant (some rearrangement may be necessary on occasions due to funerals taking place in the church on Mondays. Tuesdays may be worked instead when a Bank Holiday falls on a Monday)
Experience of cleaning work essential

JOB DESCRIPTION – ALL SAINTS WHITSTABLE CHURCH CLEANER
The role of Cleaner at All Saints Whitstable is to keep the church building as clean as possible and to maintain it as a safe venue
You will be supported in this role by the All Saints District Church Council and Church Community.
Your duties will be as follows:
This work involves the whole area of the church including the vicar’s vestry, choir vestry, and both north and west porch as well as the main church.
Tidying up paperwork and other items left in the church – paperwork that is dated in the past should be put into recycling
Trim candles – replace candles when necessary and cleaning candle holder
Dusting the chairs (though it is agreed you will not dust all of the chairs every week)
Polish the responds and woodwork (though it is agreed you will not do all of this every week)
Sweeping the floor
Washing the floor but being careful not to use too much water otherwise the floor tiles lift
Hoovering through the church
When necessary polishing the floor tiles
Other appropriate duties as may come to light during your hours.
1. Line Manager and support
Line manager will be the Team Vicar, Rev Simon Tillotson. You will meet regularly with your line manager also as part of the review of your work and to give you support

Health and Safety
It is important you are familiar with the Lone Worker policy and lock yourself in the church when on your own. Please have a mobile phone with you to contact Next of Kin or your Line Manager should you need to or if you have to call 999.

When you will work
Your cleaning hours will on Mondays either during the day or in the evening. Bank Holiday Mondays you may work on Tuesdays. Occasionally your work hours may have to be altered if a funeral is booked for a particular day that you are due to work on and willingness to adapt is important.
